I just got home from watching a screening of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, and I enjoyed it enough that I decided to write a post about it! I have an overwhelming love for sword/fantasy/castle-related movies, so King Arthur has been on my radar for a while (especially since it’s directed by Guy Ritchie- I had to see how that combo was going to turn out).
While waiting in line at the theater, I read some not-so-flattering reviews of the movie and started to get a little worried. I decided not to read any spoilers and go in with an open mind. In the end, I really enjoyed it! Things seemed a little disjointed at times, and the ending left something to be desired, but I would consider it a really fun summer action/fantasy movie. There was a good smattering of Guy Ritchie-heist scenes, which really gave the whole thing a sort of Robin Hood vibe. Effects were loud and over the top, but that’s what I was expecting based on the trailer (& we saw it in 3-D, so I actually jumped a few times). It’s not like any other King Arthur-esque movie I’ve seen, and I think that’s a good thing.
The music was probably my favorite part. I have a serious love for old ballads, and “The Devil and the Huntsman” really reminded me of the old ballad “Lord Randall.” I went and downloaded the whole soundtrack as soon as I got home!
After the movie, we tried to pull the sword from the stone; I guess neither of us are secretly the true king of Britain. Either way, it got me super excited to go to the Georgia Renaissance Festival next week!
Date Night Outfit Details

I promise y’all, my hair looked cute and wavy in this side ponytail before I stepped outside. It pretty much frizzed up immediately, but I still kind of liked it, haha. I try not to wear my glasses that often for photos, but I was really feeling my glasses-self today! My top is from J Crew, and lipstick is Buxom’s Sinful Cinnamon. And my Kate Spade watch… funny story about this watch. I actually got it for Christmas (after obsessing over it for months). For whatever reason, I was scared to wear it, afraid that I’d scratch it or mess it up somehow, since it’s my first nice grow-up watch. I just started wearing it this weekend at Doggies on the Catwalk, and I’m pretty sure I’m never going to take it off again.
So there you have it- a midnight review of King Arthur and a date night outfit! If you’re another swordfight+fantasy movie fan, let me know in the comments!
xoxo,
Raine

What a fun date night! I live in the south so my hair ALWAYS frizzes up the moment I step outside lol. I’ve decided to just embrace it!
Yes! And I’d honestly rather it be frizzy than flat, haha
