If you need something sweet and healthy to get you through the hot and sunny spring-summer season, you REALLY need to try this strawberry lassi. Lassi is a popular yogurt (or yoghurt, depending on your dialect) drink from India. The very first time I tried Indian food, my bf basically said, “Here, you’ll probably like this.” As usual, he was right. 😛
I’ve been looking for something light and fresh to have for breakfast/a morning snack, so I decided to try to make my own lassi. I’ve only had regular and mango lassi before, but I decided to try for a strawberry lassi recipe! I love strawberries, and they’re super easy to get right now at the grocery store (it’s strawberry season here in Georgia).
I didn’t add much sugar and I made my strawberry lassi really thin. Leave out some of the milk/water if you prefer it thicker! I also made a TON at once (around 8 cups) because I wanted to have enough to last all week. Half it or fourth it as needed!
Just blend/puree/pulvarize the strawberries with the sugar, then add your yogurt and milk (I experimented with almond milk, but if you aren’t a fan of almond milk, use regular)! Once I had everything at the consistency I wanted, I added a pinch of cardamom.
Here’s what you’ll need for 4 (16 oz) servings of strawberry lassi:
16 oz. Strawberries
32 oz. Plain Greek yogurt
2 cups Almond milk
2 Tbsp Sugar
(Optional cardamom)
The beauty of this is that, because it is so simple, you can tweak it to suit your tastes very easily! There are tons of amazing lassi recipes on Pinterest, so go check them out!
Nutritional fun facts per serving: 196 calories, 24 g carbs, 23 g protein, 100% DV vitamin C, 49% DV calcium
Since experimenting in the kitchen is something I really love, I’m going to start attempting to do more food-related posts. We’ll see how that turns out. I’m quickly realizing that I need my kitchen to be closer to the windows; the lighting isn’t the best. I’m sure I’ll figure something out eventually, and my food-photographer skills will improve, haha.
Stay tuned!
xoxo,
Raine

Thank you so much! 🙂
This sounds like such a great smoothie. I like simple recipes like this – I always have these ingredients.
Thank you! I know what you mean- I’m way more likely to make a recipe if I already have most of the ingredients!
An easy and delicious treat! I can’t wait to make this!
Thank you! It’s one of my favorites because it’s so easy to whip up!
I love lassis! I have never thought to try to make them at home. What a good idea!
The great thing is that it’s so much cheaper than getting them at most restaurants, too! 🙂
Oh my goodness, this looks so yummy and refreshing and perfect for summer! Plus I loveee strawberries and I’d love to try something unique like this! <3
Raine,
You followed me on Twitter so I thought I’d take a look at your blog.
This looks delicious! This is the first time I’m hearing about lassie drinks. I’ll definitely have to try this. Since I’m vegan, I’ll have to substitute milk yogurt for soy or coconut yogurt.
