Welcome to November, everyone! I’m still trying to re-adjust to my normal school/work/blog routine after a super hectic, super fun Halloween week. Seriously, Halloween seemed like it lasted forever this year, not that I’m complaining; I love dressing up, and I had the chance to wear two different costumes this year! (You can check out my Starbucks Chai Creme Frappuccino costume DIY here).
Today, I’m going to be sharing a look that is cute, comfy, and professional. On days when I’m in class or in the lab, I can wear just about anything. When I’m visiting a school or teaching a class, I want to look like, well, a teacher. Looking like a teacher does not have to equal boring or frumpy!
I have several pairs of these skinny-cut Old Navy khakis, and they’re extremely comfortable (and affordable). I also love that they’re a really light, neutral shade, so they go with pretty much any color. They’re really one of the staples of my wardrobe.
As a matter of fact, almost every part of this outfit is what I’d consider one of my “wardrobe staples.” I’ve got a sleeveless button-up black shirt that goes well with everything and is super great for layering, and my black Merona sandals (a step-up from my beloved flip flops).
The statement piece that really brings it all together is my pink and navy ladybug cardigan. It’s crown&ivy (from Belk, just to show off my Southern-ness). They have a lot of styles that are cute and totally affordable for ladies on a budget, like me.
Isn’t it adorable? I especially love the pink polka dots on the sleeves! If you work with little kids, this ladybug cardigan is a good way to add some fun and color to your wardrobe without having colors or patterns that are too loud or distracting. Even better, it’s warm enough for fall, but also cool enough for summer (and it still feels like summer here in Georgia, even though it’s now November)!
What’s your favorite casual-but-professional look?
xoxo,
Raine
